AudioEye Study Finds AI Coding Tools Do Not Write Accessible Code
AudioEye published a study and survey finding that leading AI coding tools, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, and Lovable, failed to build websites meeting WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards.
Testing of 15 AI-built sites found 306 distinct accessibility issues appearing over 59,000 times, 91% of them medium or high severity, while 81% of teams using AI code believe they meet compliance standards.
The findings position AudioEye's human-reviewed AI platform as a remedy and highlight growing legal exposure, with 46% of surveyed teams reporting demand letters or lawsuits.
