B&G Foods and Nortera Announce Termination of Green Giant Canada Asset Purchase Agreement
B&G Foods and Nortera Foods terminated their asset purchase agreement under which B&G Foods Canada would have sold Green Giant Canada to Nortera.
The termination occurred because Canadian Competition Act regulatory approval was not obtained by the September 24, 2026 outside date, despite cooperative efforts by both parties.
B&G Foods will continue to own and operate Green Giant Canada, with Nortera remaining its primary co-manufacturer, and CEO Robert D. Mills said the company will keep evaluating strategic alternatives including potential sale transactions.
Green Giant is the number one brand in both frozen and shelf-stable vegetables in Canada, and management expressed confidence in growth and margin improvement opportunities.
