Cibus Reports Second Quarter Financial Results and Provides Business Update
Cibus reported Q2 revenue of $994,000, up from $933,000 a year ago, while narrowing its net loss to $22.1 million, or $0.29 per share, compared to a loss of $26.6 million in the prior year quarter. The company significantly improved its cash efficiency, with quarterly net cash usage declining 19% sequentially and 31% year-over-year, though it projects current cash reserves will only sustain operations into early Q1 2027.
Operationally, Cibus advanced its Rice trait programs with partner Interoc, expanding the scope of their relationship to five traits, and highlighted a favorable regulatory shift in the European Union where gene-edited crops without foreign DNA will now be treated as conventionally bred. Management also noted progress in its Sustainable Ingredients program, targeting additional scale-up orders in the second half of 2026.
Leadership changes included the appointment of Craig Wichner as CEO in June, while the company reaffirmed its focus on converting its platform into revenue through disciplined commercial execution. Despite the operational improvements, the short liquidity runway remains a critical focus for management.
