CytoDyn Announces First Patient Dosed in Phase 2a Study in Collaboration with Weill Cornell Medicine Evaluating Leronlimab in Alzheimer’s Disease
CytoDyn announced the first patient has been dosed in the SALIENT-AD Phase 2a study, a collaboration with Weill Cornell Medicine evaluating leronlimab in Alzheimer’s disease.
The open-label proof-of-concept study will enroll 10 to 20 patients over age 50 with early-stage, biomarker-confirmed Alzheimer’s, receiving weekly subcutaneous injections for 12 weeks.
The primary endpoint assesses changes in brain inflammation and microglial activation using PET imaging, while secondary endpoints include safety, cognitive assessments, and blood-based biomarkers.
CEO Jacob Lalezari noted that while oncology remains the primary focus, this study explores a significant unmet need in neuroinflammation, leveraging leronlimab’s CCR5-targeting mechanism.
