It also provides rotary latches, compression latches, draw latches, hinges, camlocks, key switches, padlocks, and handles; and development and program management services for custom electromechanical and mechanical systems for original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and customer applications. Eastern reported Q2 net sales of $61.8 million, down 12% year-over-year, while GAAP EPS of $0.94 was boosted by a $6.5 million non-cash bargain purchase gain related to recent acquisitions.
Underlying profitability declined sharply, with Adjusted EBITDA falling 49% to $3.4 million and Adjusted EPS dropping to $0.15 from $0.57 in the prior year, driven by lower shipments across core product lines.
Backlog increased 45% to $126.2 million, supported by acquired aerospace orders from Sungear and Crown Precision and strengthening demand for truck mirrors and packaging.
The company repurchased 19,529 shares during the quarter, leaving 256,275 shares available under its authorization, and increased total debt by $8.8 million to fund the acquisitions.
