FTAI Aviation Ltd. operates globally, concentrating on acquiring and owning essential infrastructure and equipment that facilitate the transportation of goods and people worldwide. Its business model is structured around two core divisions: Aviation Leasing and Aerospace Products. The Aviation Leasing segment manages a portfolio of aviation assets, including commercial aircraft and their engines, which it then leases or sells to customers. As of December 31, 2022, this division oversaw 330 aviation assets in total, consisting of 106 commercial airplanes and 224 engines. At that time, four aircraft and one engine were located in Ukraine, with an additional eight aircraft and seventeen engines situated in Russia. Meanwhile, the Aerospace Products segment is dedicated to the development, production, repair, and sale of aircraft engines and their associated aftermarket components. The company was founded in 2011 and maintains its headquarters in New York, New York.
FTAI Aviation partnered with Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) to provide a cost-effective Boeing 737-800 freighter solution, combining FTAI's engine maintenance capabilities with AEI's cargo conversion expertise.
The collaboration targets the constraint in narrowbody freight growth by offering lower-cycle engines customized for cargo economics, effectively extending the lifecycle of FTAI's CFM56 platform.
AEI brings significant scale to the partnership with over 130 Supplemental Type Certificates and 625+ modified aircraft, addressing the installed base of nearly 6,000 Boeing 737-800s globally.
