Hooker Furnishings Reports Profitable Quarter and First Half
Hooker Furnishings swung to $1.7 million in consolidated net income ($0.16 basic EPS) for fiscal Q2 2027, a $4.9 million improvement over the prior-year loss and its third consecutive profitable quarter.
The turnaround leaned heavily on $7.9 million of one-time IEEPA tariff recoveries, and consolidated net sales still fell 8.7% to $63.3 million amid weak housing turnover and soft consumer demand; the company does not expect material additional tariff recoveries.
Momentum is building underneath the sales line: backlog rose 6.2% year over year and 8.4% sequentially, while Margaritaville commitments roughly doubled to about 100 in-store galleries and 10 free-standing stores ahead of a second-half shipment ramp.
Cash climbed to $18.7 million with no term-loan balance, and the company has repurchased 92,357 shares at an average $13.68 under its $5 million authorization, though management expects no meaningful near-term improvement in market conditions.
