California PPE Launches California’s First CO₂ Turnout Gear Cleaning System in Riverside
Lakeland Industries' California PPE subsidiary has installed and qualified California's first CO2 turnout gear cleaning and decontamination system at its Riverside facility, which is now operational and accepting turnout gear from fire departments across the United States.
The DualPhase Clean process pairs water-based cleaning with CO2 technology and, in UL testing, removed up to 90%+ of heavy metals and up to 99.9% of semi-volatile organic compounds, well above NFPA 1850's 50% minimum removal standard; CO2 alone can remove up to 98% of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
California PPE becomes the first independent service provider in the US to offer CO2 decontamination to fire departments, with the machine leased from Tersus Solutions under the agreement announced in February 2026.
An open house at the Riverside facility is set for October 14, 2026; no financial terms or expected revenue contribution were disclosed.
