VELO3D AND MEARS EXPAND CAPABILITIES WITH DEDICATED U.S. CU-NI PRODUCTION
Mears Machine Corporation ordered a sixth Velo3D Sapphire XC system, dedicated to copper-nickel (CuNi) printing, giving the Indianapolis contract manufacturer in-house capability in an alloy historically produced by casting.
Mears' five existing Sapphire XC systems already produce parts in nickel superalloys and aluminum, making this a repeat-capacity purchase that Velo3D's CEO framed as validation of the platform's production credibility.
The order expands Velo3D's footprint into marine and naval supply chains — copper-nickel is a mainstay in shipbuilding and seawater systems — though no dollar value for the order was disclosed.
